“Shri Ranjit Maharaj lived in the same one room apartment for over 56 years and only left India for the first time in 1996 when he was invited to teach in the west by his western students. For westerners a major distinction of Shri Ranjit Maharaj is that he speaks English.

The three main aspects of his teachings are –

1) Understanding through the dialogues.

2) Mantra Meditation.

3) Worship.

Shri Ranjit Maharaj gave these dialogues between the summer of 1996 and the winter of 1999. the content of these talks represents the final understanding taught by his Master and told by Shri Ranjit Maharaj in his own words. What distinguishes this teaching is its simplicity and its directness. In this tradition it was felt that the teaching should be available to all, with every day examples and without complicated concepts. This book is a presentation of his dialogues with students. Mantra Meditation was given by the Master on an individual basis. Worship of the Master is the culmination of the teaching and is discussed in the dialogues.

Ranjit Maharaj taught for seventeen years before he left his body on November 15, 2000. He was 87 years old. In the last five years Maharaj taught in India, Europe and America. He spoke in English besides Marathi and Gujarati.

The talks contained in this book are transcriptions of his dialogues from Mumbai and Europe.
